"Why should I trust you with my personal statement?

I've been where you are! I hold a BA in Education Policy from Brown University (2018) and an MSc. in Comparative Social Policy from Oxford University (2020).

In 2017, I won the US Department of State's Critical Language Scholarship for Arabic studies and in 2018, I was a finalist for the Rhodes Scholarship.

In my essays, I wrote about how attending PWIs informed my research interests in segregated schooling and access disparities. Tapping into my vulnerability helped connect the dots between my experience and goals and you can too!

"Why Underrepresented Applicants?"

I'm a first-generation Caribbean-American. Navigating academia as a Black woman inspired me to work with underrepresented applicants that feel marginalized or less visible in their higher education pursuits.

When I first began editing personal statements in 2016, I was co-running a college readiness program for first-generation and low-income girls of color .

Armed with stellar transcripts, research experience, and compelling essays, all of our mentees matriculated to four-year universities.

"What do you know about writing?"

Luckily, storytelling is my day job! I began my professional writing career as a communications consultant for FTSE100 companies such as Mars and P&G.

Today, I work in science communications and research. I also provide freelance copywriting and reporting writing for higher education institutions such as Harvard.
